PH2: A Bayan Manifesto – Building Peace, Health, Prosperity, and Happiness for the Filipino Nation
In a year of many firsts for Bayan, Prof. Jay Bernardo, Chairman of the Bayan Family of Foundations, gifts us with PH2: A Bayan Manifesto.
More than a declaration, it’s a comprehensive vision that captures Bayan’s commitment to building a happy, healthy, and wealthy Filipino nation.
PH2 encapsulates the dreams and aspirations of Bayan’s leadership, spelled out through the major projects it looks to mount in the coming years — projects that stand on the themes of Peace, Health, Prosperity and Happiness, which Prof. Jay hopes will become significant and lasting realities that as many of our fellow Filipinos can enjoy.
The Four Pillars of PH2
- Peace 🕊️ - Peace is the bedrock of development. Without it, progress remains out of reach. PH2 emphasizes peace – not only as the absence of conflict, but as a dynamic force that brings communities together, fosters understanding, and creates environments where families and societies can thrive.
- Health 🏥- Health is a fundamental human right and a critical component of national development. PH2 envisions a Philippines where every citizen has access to quality healthcare services, ensuring that no illness becomes a barrier to personal and societal growth.
- Prosperity 🌱- True prosperity extends beyond financial wealth. It encompasses sustainable economic growth, equitable opportunities, and the empowerment of enterprising families and communities. PH2 outlines strategies to drive inclusive prosperity, leveraging social enterprises as catalysts for change.
- Happiness 🌟 - Happiness is the ultimate measure of a nation’s success. PH2 reimagines a society where every Filipino can lead a fulfilling life, grounded in well-being, purpose, and community engagement. Happiness, intertwined with peace, health, and prosperity, is the culmination of Bayan’s vision.
A Continuing Journey
For the Bayan Family — where to next? “Definitely towards bigger and greater things—both for Bayan and the beloved nation that it serves,” Prof. Jay answers.
In his words, isang pamana, hangarin, pangako at hamon. PH2 is a gift of legacy and hope; of commitment; and a challenge to push forward in the work of nation-building. It is Bayan’s vision for the Philippines to be “A happy, healthy, and wealthy Filipino Nation, built on the strength of enterprising families, caring communities, and progressive industries.”
PH2 in Historical Context
PH2 also places itself within the rich history of Bayan’s evolution. It represents the “PH2 era,” following previous eras marked by commitment, dedication, love, and compassion. This manifesto not only reflects on Bayan’s past but also charts a bold course for the future, embodying what Prof. Jay calls “the era of lofty dreams and ambitions.”
A Call to Bayanihan
With this, Bayan leaves us with a legacy, a roadmap, and a call to bayanihan - an invitation for every Filipino to join in the collective effort to build a peaceful, healthy, prosperous, and happy Philippines.
